Case Study

Self Energising Coupling Company was formed in partnership with Matthew Readman to develop and promote a new type of threadless pipe joining technology.

Matthew had a history of innovating pipe joining technology, but from previous experiences knew that he wanted to keep control of the technical development and applications of his intellectual property, whilst being fully aware of his limitation in global sales and marketing and also manufacturing for production.

By partnering with Cygnet Group to form SECC, Matthew has been able to concentrate his time and efforts in the area where he is strongest, and therefore most able to add value and drive his idea forward, whilst benefiting from the communal expertise within Cygnet and having a wide range of engineering skills and experience to lean on.

Cygnet has provided Matthew with the platform to pursue his dream of seeing his IP applied to solving real life problems, and to be fully involved in the process from start to finish.

SECC is now a group of companies in its own right, four separate patents have been filed, and it is pushing its technologies into diverse markets from the high volume low cost connectors for fluid power to environmentally friendly, safety breakout couplings for the sub-sea oil and gas and marine market.
